Projects

Plaas Media is involved in several projects that were conceptualised and created by the company, and made possible through the forging of key partnerships.

Toyota SA National Young Auctioneer Competition

The Toyota SA National Young Auctioneer Competition was launched by Plaas Media in 2013 and is presented under the banner of Veeplaas and Stockfarm. The competition is held annually to promote the livestock auctioneering profession, one of the pillars of the South African livestock industry.
Participants are judged in categories according to rostrum performance, livestock knowledge and industry knowledge.

Agricultural Student of the Year

This pioneering competition aims to inspire and encourage students to consider pursuing careers in the field of agriculture. Every year students have to enter essays on prescribed topics and a panel of judges follow a strict protocol to select the finalists. A final round is held at Nampo Alfa, where the winners are selected in three categories. The 2020 leg of the competition had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 and its effects on the functioning of academic institutions countrywide.

The Santam Agriculture National Silage Competition is a Plaas Media initiative presented annually under the auspices of its brands, Veeplaas and Stockfarm. The competition is presented based on a protocol developed by well-known silage expert, Prof Robin Meeske of the Outeniqua Research Farm at Elsenburg.
