The Toyota SA National Young Auctioneer Competition was by Plaas Media in 2013 and is presented under the banner of Veeplaas and Stockfarm. The competition is held annually to promote the livestock auctioneering profession, one of the pillars of the South African livestock industry.

The competition is presented on the basis of a protocol developed by the well-know silage expert, Prof Robin Meeske of the Outeniqua Research Farm at Elsenburg. ALFA

ALFA or the African Livestock Trade Fair, is an initiative of Plaas Media and the Agribusiness Institute. The expo opened its doors for the first time in 2017 and has since grown into a leading event on the South African livestock calendar. It was initially held in Parys in the Free State every year during September, but in 2019 the organisers entered an agreement with Grain SA to present the expo at Nampo Park, where there is ample opportunity for growth. This led to the establishment of NAMPO ALFA Livestock, Hunting and Outdoor. This expo will allow livestock producers and industry suppliers to network, compete and celebrate each other’s achievements during a variety of shows, seminars, workshops and competitions. At the same time they will be able to pursue extracurricular activities that are synonymous with and complementary to farming, namely hunting and outdoor activities.
