About Plaas Media

Plaas Media is an agricultural media house focusing on sound technical content across all media platforms. The company’s head office is in Centurion, Gauteng and it has a presence in all provinces across the country. The company has grown by leaps and bounds since it opened its doors in 2010, when it started out with five members of staff and two magazine titles and a radio programme.

Today it has a staff complement of 30 and boasts three own magazine titles, several contract publications, a radio programme, television programme, highly successful website and social media presence, a video production arm, numerous competitions and projects, and a very unique and successful annual livestock event.

Contract publishing

Plaas Media has been instrumental in establishing and growing magazine titles for establishments involved in agriculture, notably the Animal Feed Manufaturer’s Association of South Africa (AFMA), the Protein Research Foundation (PRF) and SA Stud Book.

Plaas TV

National Young Auctioneer Competition

Presented annually since 2014, this competition has played an instrumental role in underlining the importance of the auctioneering career in the livestock industry. The competition has delivered worthy winners since its inception and has seen some of its national winners travelling overseas to represent South Africa at international auctioneering competitions.

National Silage Competition

The National Silage Competition was established by Plaas Media and key partners in 2014 and is one of the most successful technical agricultural competitions in the country, encouraging scientifically based feed security on the farm.

Plaas Productions

Plaas Productions is the Plaas Media production arm with its own small studio situated in Centurion, Gauteng. The team is responsible for producing online and corporate video content, advertisements, pre-recordings for television and much more.
